1. Overview & Service Architecture
FileBuddy is an independent web utility maintained by swarajsadili, providing browser-based tools for PDF, spreadsheet, image, text, and document workflows. Public tool pages do not require account registration, subscriptions, or credit card information.
This Privacy Policy explains how FileBuddy handles file processing, contact submissions, issue reports, browser storage, cookies, analytics, and third-party infrastructure services.
2. Client-Side Browser Processing vs. Server Interactions
For supported browser-based tools (such as PDF merging, page reordering, image conversion, and text cleaning), file processing executes locally on your device within your web browser using HTML5 Canvas, WebAssembly, and client-side JavaScript engines.
When you use these client-side utilities, your source files and generated outputs are processed in your local browser memory (RAM) and are not transmitted to remote conversion servers.
Server-side communication is strictly limited to standard website delivery, configuration retrieval, aggregate event logging, and messages you explicitly submit through our contact and issue-reporting forms.
3. Contact Form and Issue Report Submissions
When you submit a message through our Contact page, FileBuddy receives the information you provide (your name, email address, and message text), along with limited request metadata (timestamp and technical headers) necessary to process your inquiry and prevent automated abuse.
When you submit an issue report from a specific tool page, the report includes the selected problem category, optional message, optional contact email, page URL, and tool identifier. Your uploaded document contents are never attached to or transmitted with issue reports.
We use this information solely to respond to your inquiries, troubleshoot technical bugs, and improve tool reliability. We do not sell, rent, or share your contact details with third-party marketers.
4. Cookies and Advertising Technologies
FileBuddy uses cookies and browser local storage to deliver core site functionality, remember your tool preferences, and manage advertising consent.
Google AdSense & Third-Party Vendors: Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve advertisements on FileBuddy. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visits to FileBuddy and other websites across the Internet.
Personalized Advertising Opt-Out: Users may opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google Ad Settings (https://adssettings.google.com). Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance Consumer Choice page at https://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance at https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/.
Consent Management: FileBuddy implements a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) and IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF v2.2) signal mechanism. Visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland are presented with a consent banner allowing them to accept or reject non-essential and advertising cookies.
5. Aggregate Analytics and Usage Metrics
FileBuddy records aggregate, non-personally identifiable first-party events—such as total page views, tool activations, successful downloads, and error occurrences. These metrics help diagnose browser compatibility issues, monitor system stability, and understand which tools are most useful.
Analytics events record generalized action identifiers (such as "download" or "tool_complete") and never capture the text contents, document data, or metadata of your files.
6. Third-Party Infrastructure, Advertising & Ad Networks
FileBuddy is hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure, which processes standard HTTP network request metadata (including IP addresses, user-agent strings, and security signals) to deliver web pages, protect against DDoS attacks, and enforce security policies.
Third-party ad networks and advertising partners (including Google AdSense, DoubleClick, and certified demand partners) may display advertising units across the site. These entities operate under their respective privacy policies and comply with applicable privacy standards. Ads.txt records are publicly published at https://filebuddy.site/ads.txt to maintain authorized digital seller transparency.
7. Data Retention & Security
FileBuddy is designed as a direct convenience utility, not a cloud file storage repository. Public file conversions reside only in temporary browser memory while the tab is active.
Messages submitted via contact forms and diagnostic issue logs are retained only as long as necessary to resolve inquiries, debug errors, and maintain project security.
8. User Rights and Data Inquiries
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy legislation regarding personal information you have submitted to us (such as requesting access to or deletion of messages sent via our contact form).
To exercise any privacy rights or ask questions about data handling, please contact the operator directly by email at [email protected].
9. Children’s Privacy
FileBuddy is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal details through our contact form, please notify us so we can promptly delete the information.
